Quick guide
How do you take part in a trip?
- Enter the trip code you received from the teacher / organizer in the field provided and tap on the green “Take part in a trip” button.
- Once the trip has been started by the teacher / organizer, it will be displayed in the list of your active trips (blue button).
- Tap on the blue button with your trip and you are in.

Where can you enter your personal data?
- This function is only available within a trip.
- Tap on the menu in the top left corner and select “Profile”.
- Tap on “Edit” and enter your name, your alias and your sign.
- You are free not to enter your name, alias and sign, but this is of course not very helpful for the purpose of the app.
- Important! This information applies to all trips!

How can you protect your privacy?
- Tap on the menu in the top left corner and select “Profile”.
- Tap on the “Privacy” button.
- Specify which user group is allowed to see which of your personal data for the current trip.
- By default, your name is displayed when your status is called up. If you deactivate your Name, your Alias will be displayed. If you also deactivate your Alias, *** is displayed.
- By default, your sign is displayed in your marker on the map. If you deactivate your Sign, *** is displayed in your marker.
- The settings only apply to the current trip.
- Tap on the “Get default” button to get your default settings.
- Tap on the “Set as default” button to adopt the current settings as the new default.

How do you see what Meeting points there are and where they are?
- If Meeting points have been defined for the current trip, an icon labeled “Meetings” is displayed in the icon bar at the bottom.
- Tap on this icon to display the list of Meeting points in chronological order.
- Meeting points are shown on the map with a red marker.

How can you get information about a Meeting point?
- If you tap on a Meeting point from the list of Meeting points, its information is displayed and the map centers around its marker.
- The information about a Meeting point can also be called up by tapping on the respective marker.
- You can call up external route planning to this Meeting point by tapping on its name.

How can you recognize that something has changed at the Meeting points?
- Changes to the Meeting points are indicated by a red dot next to the icon.

How do you see what Stay areas there are and where they are?
- If Stay areas have been defined for the current trip, an icon labeled “Areas” is displayed in the icon bar at the bottom.
- Tap on this icon to display the list of Stay areas in chronological order.
- Stay areas are shown on the map with a green marker.

How can you get information about a Stay areas?
- If you tap on a Stay area from the list of Stay areas, its information is displayed and the map centers around its marker.
- The information about a Stay area can also be called up by tapping on the respective marker.
- You can call up external route planning to this Stay area by tapping on its name.

How do you see what Places of interest there are and where they are?
- If Places of interest have been defined for the current trip, an icon labeled “Places” is displayed in the icon bar at the bottom.
- Tap on this icon to display the list of Places of interest in alphabetical order.
- Places of interest are shown on the map with a blue marker.

How can you get information about a Places of interest?
- If you tap on a Place of interest from the list of Places of interest, its information is displayed and the map centers around its marker.
- The information about a Place of interest can also be called up by tapping on the respective marker.
- You can call up external route planning to this Place of interest by tapping on its name.

How can you recognize that something has changed at the Places of interest?
- Changes to the Places of interest are indicated by a blue dot next to the icon.

How can you set your status?
- Tap on the status icon in the icon bar at the bottom to display the list of statuses.
- Tap on a status to set this status.
- You can enter a comment on the current status in the comment field below the list.

How can you get information about a Participant?
- Information about a participant can be called up by tapping on their marker.
- You can call up external route planning to this Participant by tapping on their name.

How can you tell that a new chat message has arrived?
- The receipt of new chat messages is indicated by an orange dot next to the chat icon in the icon bar at the bottom.

How can you view the chat messages?
- Tap on the chat icon in the icon bar at the bottom to display the chat window.
-> Home -> Trip -> Chats [Icon]
How can you write a chat message?
- Write your chat message in the input field in the chat window and click on the orange send button.
- You can delete your message at any time by clicking on the recycle bin icon.

How can you organize a trip yourself?
- Important! Creating a trip is always free of charge!
- Enter the name of the trip in the field provided and tap on the red “Create new trip” button.
- Specify Meeting points, Stay areas, Places of interest and possible Statuses and define who is allowed to see what.
- Send the trip codes to all participants.
- Start your trip.
- Attention! Costs may be incurred for starting a trip.

How can you define Meeting points for your trip?
- Tap on the menu in the top left corner and select “Administration”.
- Tap on the “Meeting points” button.
- To define the location of a Meeting point, tap on the corresponding point on the map. The location is marked with an orange marker.
- If you tap on the marker and hold it for a few seconds, you can move it manually.
- If this location corresponds to a defined address, this will be displayed in the orange field, otherwise the GPS coordinates.
- Alternatively, you can also open the search by tapping on the magnifying glass icon. You can search for addresses as well as for terms (e.g. statue of liberty).
- By tapping on one of the search results displayed, its address is marked with an orange marker and the map is centered around it.
- Tapping on the add icon opens the add dialog and you can specify the name and time of the Meeting point and add a short comment.
- Tap on the „Save“ button to create the Meeting point and mark it on the map with a red marker.

How can you define Stay areas for your trip?
- Tap on the menu in the top left corner and select “Administration”.
- Tap on the “Stay areas” button.
- To define the location of a Stay area, tap on the corresponding point on the map. The location is marked with an orange marker.
- If you tap on the marker and hold it for a few seconds, you can move it manually.
- If this location corresponds to a defined address, this will be displayed in the orange field, otherwise the GPS coordinates.

How can you define Places of interst for your trip?
- Tap on the menu in the top left corner and select “Administration”.
- Tap on the “Places of interest” button.
- To define the location of a Place of interest, tap on the corresponding point on the map. The location is marked with an orange marker.

- If this location corresponds to a defined address, this will be displayed in the orange field, otherwise the GPS coordinates.

How can you define Statuses?
- Tap on the menu in the top left corner and select “Administration”.
- Tap on the “Status” button.
- To create a new status, tap on the “Add new status” button.
- Enter the new status and specify a color by tapping on a color in the selection bar.
- Tap on the „Save“ button to create the new status.

What is the difference between teachers/organisers, parents/helpers and pupils/participants?
- Teachers/organisers can define the meeting points, the stay areas, the places of interest and the statuses and they have their own chat.
- Parents/helpers have a shared chat with the teachers/organisers.
- Pupils/participants „only“ take part in the trip.
- For all three groups, you can individually determine who can / may see what on the map.

How can you define who can see what?
- Tap on the menu in the top left corner and select “Administration”.
- Tap on the “Map” button.
- For each group, you can define which elements are displayed on the map and which are not.
- Tap on the “Get default” button to get your default settings.
- Tap on the “Set as default” button to adopt the current settings as the new default.

Where can you find the trip codes for all groups of participants?
- Tap on the menu in the top left corner and select “Administration”.
- Tap on the “Codes” button.
- If you tap on a code, it is copied to the clipboard and you can forward it to the participants.

What is the „secret“ behind the trip codes?
- A trip code gives participants access to the respective trip..
- Which trip code you use determines which type of participant (organiser, helper, participant) you are..
- At any one time there is only one valid trip code for each group of participant but …
- … you can create (and distribute) up to 10 different trip codes per participant group.
- In this way, you can repeatedly organise a trip with different participants.
- Attention! If you change from one code to another during a trip, all participants with the previous code will lose access to the trip.

How can you start your trip?
- Tap on the menu in the top left corner and select “Administration”.
- Tap on the “Setup” button.
- Tap on the „Edit“ button to change the name or type of the trip.
- Select the maximum number of participants (including organizers and helpers).
- Tap the „Start 24-hour trip“ button to start your trip.
- Attention! Costs may be incurred for starting a trip.

Who can I contact if I have questions about or problems with OurTrips?
- If you have general questions about OurTrips, please send an e-mail to ourtrips@gostware.de.
- If you have questions about your account or one of your trips, please include your control code in your e-mail. You can find it in your profile. Simply tap on the “Control code” button and the control code will be copied to the clipboard.
- The support team always endeavors to answer all your questions promptly and comprehensively. However, please understand that this is not always possible due to the limited size of the support team.
